ERIE PHILHARMONIC ANNOUNCES RETURN OF POPULAR FREE SUMMER CONCERT SERIES

After a record-breaking season with eight sold-out performances, the Erie Philharmonic is thrilled to announce the return of free music this summer with the continuation of the popular In Your Hometown concert series. Eight concerts will take place in parks across the region as the tour makes stops throughout northwestern Pennsylvania in June, July and August.

Kicking off on Wednesday, June 28 at Gibson Park in North East, PA, the tour will feature one of three different ensembles, including a string quartet, full orchestra and brass band. All eight concerts are scheduled to take place at outdoor parks and venues, with backup indoor rain locations available as needed. Additionally, all three of the full-orchestra performances will include on-site instrumental petting zoos, allowing children and their families to get up close with various orchestral instruments.

We are beyond excited for the return of our In Your Hometown series. After a season that saw us reach a record number of patrons inside the Warner Theatre, we are ready to take the group on the road, visiting thousands of audience members in their own backyard. Whether it be the full Erie Philharmonic with Music Director Daniel Meyer or our incredible brass ensemble, we have an amazing collection of music planned for this summer!
— Steve Weiser, Executive Director

Like in previous years, the opening night of the tour will take place at Gibson Park in North East, a location that will host two additional performances throughout the tour. Going back to 2019, the Philharmonic has visited North East multiple times thanks to the support of several local businesses, the North East Community Foundation, the North East Arts Council, the Borough of North East and Red Letter Hospitality. Those concerts laid the groundwork for our continued relationship with the North East community and have led to the continuation of the orchestra’s summer concert series across our region.

In addition to three visits to Gibson Park in North East, the tour will feature stops at Corry City Park in Corry, Diamond Park in Meadville, Pleasant Ridge Park in Fairview, Gridley Park in Erie and Scheide Park in Titusville.

All concerts begin at 7pm, and are free and open to the public.
